A good pencil is a whole argument

I keep buying fancy pens and going back to a $0.40 pencil.

There’s an argument buried in that. The pencil doesn’t nag me to be precious. It smudges, it dulls, it’s obviously temporary — so I draw more and worry less. Every “nicer” tool I’ve bought has quietly asked me to deserve it first, and that’s exactly the wrong energy for making things.

Anyway. This is a short one — a note, not an essay. Not everything needs to be a whole production, and a site that only publishes Big Important Posts is a site that mostly doesn’t publish.
